If you are like most people, you have a lingering injury you can’t quite shake. Whether it came on slow or suddenly, the pain is preventing you from doing something you love.
At New Hampshire Spine & Sport, we have a patented method to evaluate your injury, determine the cause, and make it better fast. This method is called Active Release Techniques® (ART). It has been around for decades, but Dr. Baroody is the only certified practitioner in the state of New Hampshire.
ART is used by triathletes, members of the UFC and the NFL. The expectation of ART is to have you 50% better in four visits.
Dr. Steven Baroody is the only Certified Active Release Techniques® Provider in New Hampshire. He is certified in treatment of the whole body with Active Release, including the cutting-edge Nerve Entrapment and Complex Protocols.
Active Release Techniques® (ART) is a soft tissue treatment system developed by Dr. P. Michael Leahy to address cumulative trauma disorders like carpal tunnel syndrome. Over time, it has proven effective for various soft tissue issues, including rotator cuff injuries, nerve entrapments, sprains, strains, and athletic performance enhancement—so much so that ART tents are present at every Ironman event.
The body has essentially only one internal defense mechanism, what we call inflammation. This is used both for injuries and for infections, and it is powerful. The reason for that power is that bacteria can double in population in 20 minutes. The end product of this inflammation is scar tissue. Normally, regular motion breaks down unnecessary scar tissue, but sometimes this doesn’t happen, usually because something keeps re-scarring it.
ART uses movement of muscles contracting and relaxing to break up scar tissue, so the body can move the way it is supposed to. If improvement is incomplete, the next step is to look deeper at what keeps reproducing the problem.
ART has been used by a large number of elite athletes, including mixed martial artist Frank Shamrock, and body builder Miloš Šarčev. For more information, please visit www.activerelease.com.
